Greetings from the fifth grade!  My name is Amy Provost and I am very happy and proud to be part of the St. Thomas community.  I have an A.S. from H.C.C., a B.A. from Westfield State, and am currently working toward my M.Ed through Fitchburg State.  I am the mother of a Blessed Sacrament and Holyoke Catholic alum and I am a true believer in the rewards and benefits of  Catholic education.

I find teaching to be incredibly rewarding and am partnering with my students to help them to grow both academically and socially.  Fifth grade is a wonderful year.  We are the leaders of the elementary school.  This role is both a privilege and a responsibility.  As we make our transition from the end of elementary to readiness for middle school, our growth in academics, independence, and maturity is marked.

I believe strongly in cooperative learning.  I find it deeply gratifying when my students work together to problem solve and to facilitate their own education.   When students are owners and leaders in their education, it builds motivation and confidence, which leads to more meaningful understanding.  I work with my students to help them recognize the importance and value of doing their best and to see mistakes as opportunities for growth.  We are going to have an amazing year.
