Hello, my name is Mary Lou Bonfitto. I have three daughters who entered St. Thomas the Apostle School in 2014. This year they will be entering 8th, 6th and 3rd grade, I am so happy that my children are attending St. Thomas. It is a faith and family-oriented school, which encourages individual success.
As an educator, I am thrilled to be a member of the St. Thomas faculty. Their commitment, dedication and support is tremendous. They welcomed me as their permanent substitute teacher two years ago with such encouragement. I loved being in the kindergarten!
I have always wanted to become a teacher. When I was little, I would play with my mother’s teaching materials. After receiving my B.A. in Elementary Education from Our Lady of the Elms College in 1988, I worked in Connecticut and Massachusetts in both the parochial and public sectors. I have enjoyed teaching kindergartners through eighth grade students. After teaching for 16 years, I cherished the time I took to raise my children.
I feel so blessed and excited to be teaching third grade this year. I love language arts and reading. Reading allows one to visit anywhere in the world without ever moving at all. It is an important subject in all areas of learning.
I always strive to find the best learning tools for each student. Then, school becomes an exciting adventure in learning! I think that incentives throughout the year help to establish a goal.
I thank you, parents, for sharing your children with me. I am looking forward to working with you and your children. Communication and cooperation in educating your children is so important. It will be a wonderful year!
